Norbert E. Worthy, 93 beloved husband of the late Helen Stein Worthy, died early September 6th at Henry Ford Medical Center. Norbert is survived by his sister Kathleen of Sault Ste. Marie, five daughters, Janis (Bill Moy), Lowery, Karen, Ellen (Bob Morrow), and Noreen (Martin Nibali), 9 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Norbert grew up in the U.P. where his family manned Rocky Pointe lighthouse. He helped form the first division of the Marine Corps in the 1930's. During WWII Staff Sergeant Worthy was stationed at top-secret radar installations in Iceland and South Pacific. Norbert also served with the Michigan National Guard. Owned and operated Dix Mill Service Station serving the Lincoln Park community for over 40 years. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Detroit on Friday, September 12th at noon. Wake to follow. Donations may be made to the VFW.
