Nobuye (Nobi) Zaran, age 90 of Wyandotte, Michigan passed away on Friday, April 20, 2017. Born on August 3, 1926 in Tacoma, Washington, she was the daughter of Kumataro and Asako (Ikegami) Suyama. Nobi worked for many years as a colorist for Powell Studio in Detroit, Michigan. She loved spending time with her family and friends, as well as, rooting for Detroit and MSU sports teams, especially the Tigers, Lions, and Spartan football and basketball. While petite in stature, Nobi cast a very long shadow and served as an inspiration for three generations of Zaran, Mathis, Bertchinger, and Suyama children. Nobi is preceded in death by her husband Frank, her mother and father, her brother, Minoru (Min) Suyama and her son-in-law, Bobby Mathis. She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Mathis and Pamela (Richard) Bertchinger, her sons, Frank (Anne) and David (Lori), her grandchildren, Brian, Jamie, Jennifer, Bobby, Sarah, Emily, Michael, Rachel, David ("Alex"), Morgan, Natalie, and her great-grandchildren, Kinzy, Katlin, Erika, and Zachary, her nieces and nephews, Sharon, Patricia, Kay, and Mark, and their children and grandchildren, and by her dear sister-in-law, Sally Suyama. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Nobi's life on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Copeland Center, 2306 4th Street, Wyandotte, MI 48192.
