Nancy E. Marstiller

Nancy Ellen Marstiller, 89, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband David W. Marstiller. Dear mother of David W. Marstiller, Jr. (Diana), Diane Furgal (Mike), Mary Ann Crete (Mike), and Karen Perna (Bob). Proud grandmother of Derek, Kyle and Kirsten; Stephen, Lindsey and Brittney; Ryan, Brad, Amy and Molly; Tim, Meghan, Michelle and Katie. Loving great grandmother of Miles, Violet and Oliver; Jack and Palmer; Mason, Logan and Brooks. Nancy grew up in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Dominican High School. She married Dave Marstiller in 1953. She was a devoted homemaker and mother, doing everything an involved parent would do and more. Her dedication to her family was exemplary and she never missed a game or activity that her children were involved in. After the passing of her husband, Nancy embarked on a new adventure, joining the workforce which eventually led her to Mackinac Island. The Island became her second home and she proceeded to build a life there, touching the hearts of everyone she met. Nancy had an enthusiastic energy about life and lived it to the fullest. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially “her girls”. Everyone that met Nancy was in awe of her vitality, spunk, and her ability to make you smile and laugh. She was the epitome of “you make your own good time” (one of her favorite sayings) and practiced that lifestyle whole heartedly. Nancy was always the life of the party and usually the last to leave. She truly made the world a more cheerful place with her beaming smile, good nature, and enthusiasm. She was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, the many people who called her “Granny,” and to the countless number of friends she made on the Island over the past 34 years. She even had a way of inspiring those she never met! A Celebration of Life service and party will be held on Mackinac Island in August 2021. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
