Ms Mary M. Vella

Mary M. Vella, age 91, of Center Line, MI formerly of Newport, MI, passed away May 19, 2013 at Father Murray Nursing Care Center in Center Line, she had been in declining health. Mary was born on May 1, 1922 in Pulaski, TN to Lura and Sally (Hodges) Tosh, she moved to Detroit, MI with her parents as a youngster. Mary married Joseph Vella in Detroit, sadly he preceded her in death. Mary and Joseph purchased a home in Newport as a summer retreat, but after Joseph retired from Chrysler in 1983 they made there Newport home there year-around residence. Mary was a member at of St Charles Catholic Church, she enjoyed sewing, collecting dolls and cooking-she was well known for her home made French fries. Mary is survived by granddaughters, Cheryl (Meritt) Higgins of Warren, MI, Michelle Kahael of Warren, MI and Kathleen Kahael of Warren, MI; great grandchildren, James, Joseph and Jacqueline. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carrie (James) Kahael; siblings, J.B.Tosh and Thelma Louis Walls.
