Mrs. Shirley Ann Moore

Shirley A. Moore was a lifelong Trenton resident born on July 5, 1933 and who died peacefully on December 26, 2014 at the age of 81 years young. She is survived by her sons Rick of Lincoln Park and Thomas (wife Joyce) of Trenton, younger brother Howard (wife Mimi) Townsend, grandchildren Jason (wife Rachel) Luspin and Audra (husband Tim) Rakoczy of Texas, Kate Moore of Georgia, James Moore of Ann Arbor, two wonderful great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; son-in-law Joseph Luspin of Texas and special family members Jennifer (husband Jim) Galloway-Brown and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Anna Townsend, her husband Ferrel, beloved daughter Marilyn and sister Darlene Rymut. Shirley was a graduate of both Trenton High School and Wayne State University. After receiving her degree, she worked for various social service organizations and finally retiring from Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency at the age of 80. She was a long-time, active member of Trenton's First United Methodist Church, the Business and Professional Women's Foundation and a valued member of the Taylor Rotary Club. Shirley will be remembered by all for her generosity and her warm, caring heart. She will be deeply missed by all of the many people whose lives she profoundly impacted. She felt deeply for the disadvantaged and downtrodden, and displayed her concern by her active involvement in the communities surrounding her home town. Over the years she devoted much of her time to nutritional programs for those less fortunate, and inter-faith initiatives and community outreach programs promoting understanding between people of diverse cultural backgrounds. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Trenton or the charity of your choice.
