Mrs. Sarah B Krauss

Sarah M. Krauss died peacefully on March 3rd, 2013, surrounded by family and her loving caregiver Yvette. Born March 30, 1925 in Bay City, Michigan, Sally was a longtime resident of Grosse Ile. She married Bill Krauss (dec.) whom she had known since childhood, as their parents were longtime friends. As newlyweds the couple moved to Grosse Pointe and in 1968 settled with their family on Grosse Ile. Sally and Bill were world travellers and committed to their large family. She enjoyed the company of her 22 grandchildren who enjoyed her never empty cookie jar with her famous chocolate chip cookies. The cookie jar always drew a crowd in her Grosse Point and Jewel Colony neighborhoods. Sally was also an avid reader and bridge player. Sally is survived by her loving sister Kathleen L. Bergen (Grosse Ile), seven children including William (Debbie) Krauss of Grosse Ile, Sarah Krauss of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin (Molly) Krauss of Grand Rapids, Anthony (Leigh) Krauss of Grosse Ile, Joseph (Susan) Krauss of Redwood City, CA, Emily (Eric) King of Warrenton, VA and Luke (Maria) Krauss of Grosse Ile. Her grandchildren Monica, Monte, Alex, Daniel, Fred, Joel, Peter, Casey, Matthew, Jacob, Isaac, Sam, Kaile, Rachel, Austin and Kelsie Krauss, Ralph Feldhauser and Patrick, Charlie, Duncan and Ryan King are scattered around the country and keep in close touch with each other through social media. She is preceded in death by husband Bill, her father and mother, Bill and Irene Bergen and her granddaughter Jane. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 9th, preceded by a gathering at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Grosse Ile.
