Mrs Norma E. Bechtel

Norma E. Bechtel, 69, formerly of Springfield, passed away in her home Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. She had been in declining health. Norma was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Butler, Pa., to Ford and Edith (Hall) Mershimer. She graduated from Springfield Local Schools in Petersburg in 1962. Norma married Frank W. Bechtel on Oct. 30, 1976. Sadly, he preceded her in death on July 9, 1992. Norma, in her younger years, enjoyed drag racing. She was a crafter and bowler. She was a member for many years at the Huron Valley Reformed Church, Rockwood, where she also served as a deacon. Norma loved everyone. She especially loved being around her family and grandchildren. She was known by most people as "MA-B." Norma is survived by her children, Jesse (Cathy) Bechtel of Traverse City, Mich., Ben (Carmalita Yonts) Bechtel of Flat Rock, Mich. and Andrew (Melissa) Bechtel of Rockwood; siblings, Jim (Pat) Mershimer of Bessemer, Pa., Dick (Helen) Mershimer of Poland, Gary (Shirley) Mershimer of Poland and Nancy (George) Tablack of New Middleton; grandchildren, Kelli, Matthew, Rachel, Timmothy, Diana, Jennifer, Jeromy and Becky; and great-granddaughter, Cecilia.
