Born in Lafollette, Tennessee on September 30, 1925, Nellie was the daughter of Thomas L. & Tiny D. Parrott. She married Joseph Frank Hyden on June 8, 1946 in Monroe. An avid member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church for more than 65 years, Nellie was active with the church serving as a Class Secretary, was a Choir Member, taught Vacation Bible School and was involved in many other activities to support the church. In addition to Joseph, her husband of some 64 years, Nellie is survived by three children: Barbara A Hyden, Vickie (Larry) Head and Norman (Shirley) Hyden all of Monroe. She is also survived by a sister Eliza L. (Robert) Hyden of Monroe; four grandchildren: Chad (Jennifer) Head, Andrea (Terry) Wickenheiser, Brent (Katie) Hyden, and Zachary Hyden as well as five great grandchildren: In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by three brothers: Orace T., Doctor Truet, Vernon R. and three sisters: Cecil Hatfield, Alberta Stepp and Virginia Pickett. Nellie’s greatest devotion and love in life was to her family, friends and church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy-Memorial Hospice or Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church.
