It's A Wonderful Life March 27, 1933 – December 12, 2013 24 Grand Children 12 Great Grand Children 61 years of marriage Marian Brant was the daughter of Frances & Milo Durocher. She attended St. Mary's grade school and was a graduate of St. Mary Academy. She aspired to be a nun, but had to admit that she got a better offer. After a bit of chasing all the way to Texas, she claimed a young Air Force man for her own. She married Clinton Brant in 1952. The family grew to eight children. Jane was born in Texas, Gary (Janet), Mark (Karen), Susan (Robert) Lehmann, John (Lori), Cathy (Roger) Fairchild, Steve (Juli), & finally Thomas (Stacy) were all born in Michigan. Mom said raising her children was the best job in the world. Sunday and holiday dinners at Moms' were the norm and, since each of her children had 3 of their own in tow, we were often visiting in shifts as the family tree spread. The fruit from that tree have circled the world as they blossom into young professionals. Marian was an avid reader and a skilled quilter with her quilts blessing many homes in the U.S. and Germany. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Joseph Parish in Maybee for her entire married life, missing Sunday service only once in the last 37 years. Countless hours were devoted to guilds and activities at St. Joseph's church and school. Baked goods on the kitchen cupboard often meant a church event and we always asked permission before helping ourselves. Mom was our guide through trials and triumphs. She was our supreme court on issues from mundane to majestic. Our family functions were organized much like her home. She had a soft military style touch that assured all would run in detailed fashion. Those gatherings would all finish the same with all-around thank-yous & smiles. We did not realize until the end that her entire life she had been stitching day by day & bit by bit the most amazing quilt of all. This unique pattern of love, smiles & cinnamon rolls will give us all warmth and strength of character as we go forward. Marian is survived by her husband, brothers, Dwight Durocher, Mark (Dorothy) Durocher , and sisters Kathryn (Joe) Maniaci and Marilyn Paielli. She is preceded in death by sisters, Alice Durocher, Lucille Mueller, Joan Christianson, Edna Cooley, Jeanette Wick, and brothers, Mike and Eugene Durocher. On Dec. 8, 2013 with all things in order, Mom was tired and laid down to rest. She made the journey of her prayers on Dec. 12, 2013 and is there now preparing the way for her family once again. Blessed thanks to those who touched her life, we will be forever grateful. A memorial mass will be held at 11 AM on December 17, 2013 at St. Joseph Church in Maybee. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice or Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
