Mrs. Lynne Gonyea Cooper

Lynne Gonyea Cooper, age 66 formerly of Grosse Ile and Rockwood, passed away November 4, 2016. Loving wife of Everett "Sonny". Dear mother of Holly (Brian) McNeal and Noelle (Tommy Wilson) Cooper. Proud grandmother of Nina and Austin Cooper, Peyton and Justice McNeal. Also survived by her siblings Donna (Mike) Soule, Nancy (Bob) Nagle, Bruce (Pat) Gonyea, Bonnie Jones, and Mark (Tammy) Gonyea. Brother's and sister's in law Lucinda (Dimitri) Gaitanopoulos, Terry Cooper, Jimmy Cooper, Tracy (Margaret) Cooper, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Lynne was an extremely accomplished individual. She received both her bachelors and masters degree from Eastern Michigan University, as well as her doctorate degree from the University of Detroit. Lynne spent most of her working career as a lawyer and local magistrate, but was also a former teacher for Carlson High School and real estate agent. She was a past recipient of the Woman of the Year award from the National Organization of Women, former long term member of the Trenton Soroptimists, and long term member and volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grosse Ile. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Miami, FL 33131, and/or Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
