Mrs. Joyce Mae Ames

Joyce Mae Ames, age 83, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly long time Trenton, MI resident, passed peacefully on May 15, 2016. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas L. Ames, and dear sister, Alberta Bond. She is survived by her loving children Mark Ames (Mary) of Ann Arbor, Mi., Susan O'Brien (John) of Lexington, KY. and grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, Matthew, Jonathan, Andrew, and Mark. Joyce was a 1953 graduate of Wisconsin State College - La Crosse and earned her M.A. - Education from Eastern Michigan University in 1979. She taught the majority of her career at Anderson Elementary School where she touched many young lives before her retirement in the early 1990s. Retirement afforded her the opportunity to spend more time with her family and especially her grandchildren, who she deeply treasured. A woman of strong will and sharp wit, she will be sincerely missed. Visitation Friday, June 3rd from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at The Trenton Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd, Trenton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be considered to St. Philip Lutheran Church (Trenton) or the Salvation Army in her honor.
