JoAnn Steffy, age 78, of Monroe, passed away Monday February 24, 2014, at Mercy Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born July 22, 1935, in Fremont, Ohio to Joseph and Dorothy (Smith) Schroeder. JoAnn graduated from Monroe High School in 1953 and married the love of her life Walter "Skip" Steffy on June 20, 1953 in Bowling Green, OH. Along with her husband, she was an owner/operator of Ole Tyme Glass with locations in Monroe and Toledo. In her younger years JoAnn was an avid bowler and she was employed by Nortel Lanes for many years. In 1989 she was inducted into The Monroe Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame and was also instrumental in forming the Monroe Junior Bowling Association in the early 60's. JoAnn also served as an officer on the Woodland Beach Homeowners Association, was instrumental in the creation of the Woodland Beach Beautification Committee, and also was a member of The Monroe Rod and Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary. JoAnn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her family was the most important part of her life and she will be missed and forever in our hearts. She also loved to watch the eagles while sitting on her porch overlooking the park and Lake Erie. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Skip; children, Walter "Chip" Steffy, Larry (Lisa) Steffy, Jeri (Lou Dallman) Steffy, Callie (Tom) Potcova and Christi (Ed) Warner all of Monroe; grandchildren, Justin (Catherine) Steffy, Chris (Nicole) Steffy, Ashley (Derek) Welker, Jennifer Edwards, Chad Warner, Matthew Warner, Michael Steffy, Paul Steffy and Joseph Steffy; great grandchildren, Callie Francisco, Jillian Edwards and Dayton Steffy. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jack W. Schroeder, Patricia Ford and Sandy Lovell.
