Frances Marion (Vizard) Skinner passed away Tuesday, January 14th at her home in American House, Riverview where she has lived since January 2011. She was born October 20, 1920 and was the adopted daughter of Fred J. and Agnes (Kramer) Vizard .She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Rockwood. She married Roy M. Skinner on January 9, 1937 in Rockwood and they were married 45 years until his passing in 1982. She was a lifelong resident of Rockwood. She is survived by a daughter Jeanette (James) Herzog of Rockwood and a son Jerry Skinner of Monroe. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Suzanne(Roger) Benyo, Michael J. Herzog, Mary(David)Griffin, Nancy(David) Deromedi, Eileen (Chuck Przybylo) Herzog, Barbara(Erin) Russell, Jeffrey(Mio) Skinner, Patricia(Alan)Smudz, and James(LaDonnis) Herzog. She is also survived by 21 Great Grandchildren, 10 Great Great Grandchildren, a sister-in-law Patricia (Ray) Skinner ,2 nieces: Karen Skinner and Debra(Brian) Lantzy, and her very close friend Barbara Raymond. Fran and Roy owned/operated the Rockwood Dry Cleaner & Gift Shop on Fort St. In 1950, they built their new location on Church St. which housed the Rockwood Post Office and Rockwood Gift Shop. The post office moved to its current location in 1962 and the building became Fran's Tog Shop until 1969 when urban renewal bought the location. Franny enjoyed floral arranging, antiquing, wintering in Florida, playing cards, BINGO, and was a huge Detroit Tiger fan. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockwood, a Charter Member of the Rockwood Area Historical Society, and Rockwood Moose. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to Henry Ford Hospice and the Rockwood Area Historical Society.
