Mrs. Florence M. Costa

Costa, Florence M. (Cima) died peacefully on Grosse Ile, surrounded by family on March 16, 2013. Born March 29, 1914 in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. Wife of 41 years to the late Frank. Mother of Linda ( Robert) Carrier. Grandmother of Lisa ( Art) Beyer and Laura (Eric) Best, Step-Grandmother of Kevin (Laura) Carrier and Veronica Carrier. Great Grandmother of Amanda, Timothy, Ashley, Katarina and Gennifer. Also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Frank, grandson Patrick, parents Vincenzo and Clementina Cima and her 4 sisters Bette Stoehr, Theresa Milkovie, Helen and Sue Gougherty. She taught 30 years at St. Francis Cabrini in Allen Park. She was the school's first lay teacher. Florence served on the commission to the build the Allen Park Library and the Grosse Ile Senior Housing complex. Florence served as publicist and public relations for the Downriver Italian-American Club for over 20 years. Memorials made in Florence's name may be made to Henry Ford Hospice.
