Mrs Esther Caroline Rupp

Esther C. Rupp, age 95, of Maybee, Mi, passed away Saturday March 15, 2014 at Fountainview of Monroe. Esther was born September 6, 1918 in Maybee to Frank and Bertha (Steinman) Gotha. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1939. Esther married Carl Rupp May 16, 1940 at St Thomas Rectory Ann Arbor; sadly he preceded her in death August 6, 1992. She and her husband owned and operated the Rupp Mobil Service Station from 1940-1975. For 33 years she was Maybee Village Treasurer, retiring in 1995. She was a past member of the Monroe County Treasurer Association, Michigan Municipal Treasurer Association, treasurer of Northside Cemetery form 1966-2007, St Joseph's Christian Mother and the Little Flowers Guild, Monroe Senior Citizens, Frenchtown Senior Citizens and the Monroe County Historical Society. Esther enjoyed traveling to her cabin in Northern Michigan, reading and attending to her plants. Esther is survived by her daughter Marjorie (Robert) VanAuker of Maybee; granddaughter Sarah Kate VanAuker; great grandchildren, Robert Carl VanAuker and Malcom Gabriel VanAuker; siblings, Ben (Margaret) Gotha of Temperance, Harold (Janice) Gotha of Monroe, Mary (Joe) Lehr of Ida and Louise (Art) Dussia of Ida; sister in law, Barbara Gotha. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, siblings, John, Arthur, Frank, Elizabeth Grodi and Pearl Zimmerman. Family will receive friends from 2-8 PM Monday March 17, 2014 at the Liedel Chapel-Allore Martenson Family of Funeral Homes Maybee, where the Rosary will be recited by Deacon George Cousino at 7 PM that evening. Mass will be Tuesday 11 AM March 18, 2014 at St Joseph Catholic Church Maybee, she will lie in state after 10:30 AM, Fr John Dumas will officiate, interment will follow at Northside Cemetery Maybee, Michigan.
