Mrs Elizabeth Mae Gilday

Elizabeth Mae Gilday, age 92, of Monroe passed away Monday May 26, 2014 at Mercy Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Elizabeth was born December 29, 1921 in Monroe to Albert and Elizabeth (McCloskey) Kohler; she graduated from Monroe High School in 1937 and proudly served her country in the United States Navy from 1944 – 1946. She married Alton J. Gilday August 31, 1957 at St Mary's Catholic Church Monroe; he preceded her in death on October 7, 1998. Elizabeth was one time employed as a Pharmacy Assistant at Thorton's Drug Store and was a clerk at Paper Products of Monroe for many years. She was a member at St Mary's Catholic Church Monroe and enjoyed reading and traveling. Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Bruce) Suydam of Maybee and two grandchildren, Abigail Suydam and Craig Suydam. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Genevieve on February 12, 1982 and siblings, William Roger Kohler, John Dale Kohler and Nancy McGovern.
