Mrs. Debra S. Schoon

Schoon, Debra S. Age 55. August 1, 2013 of Trenton. Formerly of Sutherlin, Oregon. Beloved wife of 25 years to Richard. Loving mom of Bethany Hope (John) Gibbons, Jacob Skylar Schoon and Lucas Simon Schoon. Cherished daughter of Audrey (nee: DeVries) and the late Simon Schoon. Dearest sister to the late Lorna Schoon, Sharon (Leonard) Bodeen and the late Larry Schoon. Also survived by other loving family and friends. She is now reunited with her first child Rachel Grace. Debra grew up in the mountains of Southern Oregon. She often hiked up mountains to the tall pine forests where she felt a closeness with God. Debra excelled academically and athletically in high school, earning a basketball scholarship to The University of Oregon. Two years later, Debra transferred to the University of South Dakota and joined their volleyball team. She went on to study Physical Therapy in Colorado. Debra was most recently employed with Rivergate Health Care Center in Riverview as a physical therapist. Debra had a strong faith and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Trenton. She loved Bible study and led a large women's ministry group, for a time. She enjoyed each opportunity she had to play both older hymns and newer worship songs on the piano at church and at home. Debra and her family appreciate all the incredible support from their relatives, church, and friends during her cancer illness. She passed away, peacefully, at home while sleeping.
