Walter (Skip) Edward Steffy Jr. age 79, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 27, 2014, with his loving family at his side. He was born April 29, 1934 in Monroe, Michigan to Walter and Helen (Stevens) Steffy. Skip graduated from Monroe High School in 1953. He married the love of his life, JoAnn, on June 20, 1953. JoAnn preceded him in death on February 24, 2014. Skip was an electrician by trade and was a 60 year member with the IBEW Local 8. Along with being an accomplished electrician, he and his wife owned and operated Steffy's Antiques and Ole Tyme Glass with locations in Monroe, Toledo, and Maumee. His hobbies included boating, fishing, skeet shooting, photography, and carpentry, as well as stained and fused glass art. He was involved in the Woodland Beach Beautification Committee, and also was a member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club. Skip was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the most important part of his life and he will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. Left to cherish his memory are their children: Walter "Chip" Steffy, Larry (Lisa) Steffy, Jeri (Lou Dallman) Steffy, Callie (Tom) Potcova and Christi (Ed) Warner, all of Monroe; grandchildren: Justin (Katherine) Steffy, Chris (Nicole) Steffy, Ashley (Derek) Welker, Jennifer Edwards, Chad Warner, Matthew Warner, Michael Steffy, Paul Steffy and Joseph Steffy; and great grandchildren: Callie Francisco, Dayton Steffy, Jillian Edwards and Owen Steffy. Skip was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Roscoe, and surviving is his sister Barbara DiArpini of Florida. In keeping with Skip's wishes, services will be private.
