Mr Robert F. Herkimer

Robert F. Herkimer, age 81, of Monroe, MI formerly of Maybee, MI passed away Sunday August 24, 2014 at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center, he had been ill for over 2 years. Robert was born December 24, 1932 in Carleton, Michigan to Wilbur W. and Vila (Bricker) Herkimer, he graduated from Airport High School in 1950. He married Evelyn Smith on November 30, 1957 in Spokane, WA. sadly she preceded him in death on May 15, 1997. Robert honorably served his country as a medic in the U.S.Air Force for 14 years; he was employed at Ypsilanti State Hospital for over 30 years as a medical assistant. Robert enjoyed 4-wheeling, wood working, smoking his pipe, gardening, building toy boxes and bird houses but most of all he loved being with his family. Robert is survived by his children, James Herkimer of Spokane, WA, Rick (Pat) Herkimer of Crystal Falls, MI, Bernice (James) Murphy of St Louis, MO, Evelyn (Joseph) Cook of Carleton, MI, Troya Caincross of Monroe, MI, Joyce Conrad of Grandview, WA and Virginia Olinek of Rock Island, TN; siblings Roy Herkimer of Trenton, MI and Darlene (Buddy) Keibler of Maybee, MI; 21 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 37 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, daughter Charlotte Biddleman, brothers Alton and Pearl.
