Mr. Richard Neil Carter

Richard (Dick) Neil Carter, of Trenton MI, age 90, died Monday, May 20, 2013, after a brief illness. Dick was born April 18, 1923, in Union, MI, of Este M and Florence (nee Smyser) Carter, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Constantine High School in 1941, having lettered in football; and Southeastern University in 1950, earning a Bachelors in Commercial Science (Accounting). He worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Detroit area from 1948 to 1953. The rest of his career he was a CPA, owning his own business. Dick was a World War II veteran, and proud of it. He was a member of the 388th Bombardment Group (H) Association, having served in the 860th Squadron of the Army Air Corp as an airplane instrument mechanic from 1942-1945. He was also an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7310, Grosse Ile, MI, and American Legion Post 217, Wyandotte, MI, volunteering in many capacities in both organizations. These places were his home and these men were his family. Golf, card-playing of many kinds, fishing, and Nomads were other activities he participated in over his lifetime. He is survived by five nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family members. Dick was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Buzolitz (husband, Joe, also deceased) and his brother James M Carter (widow Barbara). He will be interred at Plum Grove Cemetery, Union, MI, at a future date. Dick was a noble man who will be missed by all the people whose lives he touched.
