Pete J. Moore, age 89, of Monroe, passed away peacefully March 25, 2014 at Brookdale Senior Living of Monroe. Pete was born march 1, 1925 in Louann, Arkansas; he was one of seven children born to the late Pete J. and Annie (Alexander) Moore. He resided in Smackover, Arkansas until his relocation to Michigan in 1954, where he began his career with the Detroit Edison Company. During his 32 years with the Company, he served as a Lineman, Field Foreman, Assistant General Foreman and General Foreman. He has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local Union #17, for over 60 years. Pete married his lifelong partner, the former Irene Wojciechowski, on January 15, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio. The couple recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by the couple's daughter, Deborah (Martin) Darcy of Monroe; granddaughter, Sarah E. Venier of Chandler, Arizona; beloved Great Granddaughter, Livia Venier also of Chandler, Arizona. A Scottish Rite 33rd Degree Mason, Pete was affiliated with Monroe Lodge #27 of the Free and Accepted Masons where he had been a member the past 53 years. He has also been an active member of Christ Lutheran Church of Monroe for the past 30 years. In addition to his many accomplishments, Pete was proud to obtain his private pilot's license with the assistance of his former son-in-law, Joseph Sottile Jr. In addition to his family and friends in Michigan, Pete is survived by family in Smackover and Eldorado, Arkansas, including sister, Ruby Faye (Kenneth) Clark; brother, Bruce (Bobbie) Moore and daughter, Mary Ann (Kenneth) Molsbee. A private service to celebrate Pete's life has been held at the Allore Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes Monroe with entombment at Roselawn Memorial Park LaSalle. Pete's family gives a very special thank you to the exceptional staff of Clair Bridge of Monroe and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care and support during this most difficult time.
