Jack C. McCollum, age 81, of Monroe, MI passed away Saturday afternoon August 23, 2014 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, he had been in declining health. Jack was born April 24, 1933 in Massillon, Ohio to Curtis C. and Edna M. (Mullett) McCollum; he attended Monroe Public Schools, graduated in 1951 Massillon Washington High School, and graduated from Kent State University in June of 1960. He entered the U.S. Air Force on March 31, 1952 and served 4 years, including 18 months in Japan. Jack was employed for Rocketdyne division of Boeing Aircraft Division for 28.5 years, retiring in December 1991. Jack moved to Monroe area after retirement to be with his family. He was a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church, past president of the Kiwanis Club-North, enjoyed working on automobiles and small engines. His main passion was bowling; he bowled for many local teams in Monroe and was honored for bowling a perfect 300 game. Jack was an avid, lifelong Ohio State Football fan; he looked forward to his trips to Vegas and attending family functions. Jack will be remembered as a gentle and kind man who always put his family and friends first. Jack is survived by his lifelong friend, Donald Morrison of Monroe; niece, Susan (Jeff) Welker of Monroe; nephew, Larry Naveaux of Erie; grand nephews, Jody Naveaux of Point Place, OH, Ryan (Natasha) Welker of Monroe, Derek (Ashley) Welker of Monroe and Daren Naveaux of Point Place, OH; grand niece, Jaime (Craig) Sortor of Point Place, Oh; great grand niece and nephews, Addison Welker, Carson Welker and Griffin Sortor. Four legged friends, Bailey and Reggie. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Mae (Forrest) Naveaux.
