Howard C. Boltz, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI, passed away peacefully in the comfort his home with his family by his side on June 27th, 2014 at the age of 86. Born July 17th, 1927 in Monroe, he was the son of the late Harold and Mae (Stapish) Boltz. Howard graduated from Monroe High School in 1945 and served in United States Navy on the USS Wyoming from 1945-1946. On Oct 21, 1950 he married the former Nelda "Judy" Liedel of Maybee, MI at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe MI. Howard is survived by Judy Boltz, his loving wife of 63 years, three children: daughter Holly (Robert) Dunbar of Hampton Falls, NH; sons Bradford (Tammy) Boltz of Louisville, KY; and Matthew (Stacy) Boltz of DeBary, FL, and 8 grandchildren: Sarah and Michelle Dunbar, Victoria, Jacob, and Luke Boltz, and Brandon, Brittany, and Bryson Boltz. In 1989 he retired from Total Petroleum after 25 years of service. He began as a contract transport carrier of petroleum products in Monroe and Washtenaw Counties and spent the last 20 years as Southeast Michigan Operations Manager in charge of transportation, terminals and statewide warehousing and distribution from the Romulus headquarters. He is a member of the Michigan Trucking Association, Southeast Michigan Emergency Petroleum Association, Monroe Boat Club, and the Maybee Post 4361 Veterans of Foreign Wars. While he enjoyed fishing and boating, travelling, researching and studying family genealogy, more than anything Howard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Memorial Hospice and Trinity Lutheran Church Monroe, MI.
