Died suddenly and peacefully on February 28, 2017 in Trenton, Michigan. Gerry was born in Detroit on September 1, 1925 to Gordon and Josephine Goyette. A 1943 graduate of Holy Redeemer High School, after serving three years in the U.S. Navy, he attended the Detroit Institute of Technology, College of Pharmacy, on the GI Bill and had a long career as a pharmacist. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth (Betty) O'Hare Goyette, children Mary Lou Folts (David), Nancy Barrett, Jerry Goyette (Mary Lou), Diane McNellis (Robert) and Brian Goyette, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Grace Hurley and Dorothy Hatch. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Charles and Gordon and sister Josephine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Monday, March 6, at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 2901 Manning Street, Trenton, MI. Interment at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, 18303 Allen Road, Brownstown Twp, MI. Visitation, Sunday, March 5 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Martenson Funeral Home, 3200 West Road, Trenton, MI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Development Office, 1820 Mount Elliott Street, Detroit MI 48207 would be appreciated.
