Mr. Eugene J. "Rick" Rickey

Rickey, Eugene J. "Rick". Age 86. September 13, 2011 of Riverview. Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Jacqueline. Loving dad of Michael (Betty), Matthew (Rose), Mark (Jan), and Mitchell (Cindy). Proud papa of Carson, Maddie, Sophie, Mark and Annie. Also survived by his friends Ann Molaski and Terri Wendl. Rick served with three of his brothers in WWII, specifically in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the 7th Air Force as an aerial engineer and flew in the B-24 Liberator when stationed in Naha, Okinawa. He and his crew survived when they were forced to ditch in the Pacific and were picked up by the naval ship, the U.S.S. Doran. Rick worked for Ford Motor Co. for 32 years and volunteered at the Southgate Youth Center and St. Pius School. He was a big sports enthusiast for his boys as well as the college and pro sports teams in Michigan. Rick was proud to have four sons who are college graduates. Memorial contributions to honor Rick's life may be made to The National Shrine of the Cross in the Woods, Indian River, MI, Boomerang Backpacks, Delta College Nursing Scholarships or Pauline Memorial Catholic School Athletic Department.
