Mr. David L. Stahl

David L. Stahl, age 69 of Monroe, died of Pulmonary Fibrosis at Regency Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. He had been seriously ill for 4 months. Born in Monroe, David was the son of Lloyd & Imilda (Grassley) Stahl. He married Charlene Hartsuff at Grace Lutheran Church on December 28, 1963 by the Rev. Paul Richert. A graduate of Monroe High School, David worked for 33 ½ years for Ford Motor Company's Monroe Plant, retiring in 1997 as a Graphic Artist. He had been the Plant Engineering Product Illustrator, New Product Designer, Employee Involvement Leader and Founding Member of the Monroe Energy Team. David was very active as a Lifetime Community Volunteer Artist. In 1985 he designed the City of Monroe Logo; 1987 was Project team member of the Fisherman Memorial in Grand Marais, Michigan; 1989 Project Designer of the Lotus Fountain in Downtown Monroe, 2002 Designer/Graphic Artist of the Little Brown Bear bronze statue; 2003-2006 Designer of the Heritage Park Pavilion in Loranger Square; 2010 Design Artist for the River Raisin Heritage Trail Sign; and most recently designed the model and sign for the War of 1812 River Raisin National Park Battlefield, which is on display at the Monroe Historical Museum. He was a member of the Lovell's Community Chapel Church in Lovell, Michigan. David also volunteered for many organizations such as: 11 year member of the Monroe Downtown Development Authority, Chair of the Floral City Festival, Member of the Millennium Committee, Founding Member of the Monroe Art and Beautification Committee, Member of the City/County Fine Art Commission, 7 years as co-chair of the Mason District for United Way of Monroe County and 8 year member of the War of 1812 Bicentennial Steering Committee. In his spare time David enjoyed fishing, camping, summers at Grand Marais in Michigan's Upper Peninsula but mostly spending time with his family. David leaves to cherish his memory Charlene, his wife and soul mate of over 48 years; a son Jeff (Carol) Stahl of Monroe; three grandchildren: Jarrod Stahl, Michael Stahl and Jenna Stahl, as well as his mother Imilda Stahl of Grayling, Michigan and Longwood, Florida; a brother Thomas (Melinda) Stahl of Longwood, Florida and his faithful dog Brie-zee. Sadly he was preceded in death by his father Lloyd; a brother William and an uncle Eldon Stahl. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County or the United Way of Monroe County.
