Mr. David "Chief" Ford

David Vernon "Chief" Ford, age 72, of Rockwood, MI passed away in his home Sunday October 19, 2014. Dave was born October 26, 1941 in Toronto, Canada, he moved to the Detroit area when he was 16, he took a job as a dock hand at a trucking company till he was hired in at Ford Motor Co. when he turned 18 years old. Dave was a body finisher at Ford Motor Co. Woodhaven Stamping Plant till he retired after 38 years. He married the love of his life, Sharon Delores Marshall September 23, 1963; sadly she preceded him in death on January 28, 2014. Dave was an active member of Detroit Beach Boat Club, where he played on the pool league for many years. He enjoyed boating, fishing and most of all his family. Dave was very proud of his American Indian Heritage. Dave is survived by his children, Ronald Ford of Flat Rock, MI, Randy Ford of Rockwood, MI and Cherie Ford of Newport, MI; siblings, Mike John of River Rouge, Mi and Harry Nanacook of Hamilton, Canada; grandchildren Marissa and Mariah Ford. He was also preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Louise and Charles Ford, son, David Ford Jr, and sister, Madeline.
