Mr Daniel "Hank" Knierim

Daniel "Hank" Knierim, age 81, of Estral Beach Newport, MI. passed away peacefully in his home April 1, 2014. Dan was born June 19, 1932 in Ecorse, MI to the late Howard and Mildred (Stevens) Knierim. He graciously served his country in the United States Army from 1949 – 1952. Dan was married to the late Beverly Knierim and presently married to Ann (Voakes). We can proudly say that Dan made a lasting impression on everyone he met with his generosity, which was only surpassed by the size of his heart. He was an active member of his community that he so greatly treasured. Dan was the last surviving member that originated the Estral Beach Fire Dept. We will also remember Dan by his handsome smile and passion to live life to the fullest. Dan enjoyed much of his life fishing, boating, and hosting his family at his cherished Lake Erie home. He was passionate for trains and enjoyed them as a hobby after he retired from working on the railroad at Great Lakes Steel in 1990. He appreciated a good adventure and gifted us with fascinating stories from his travels around the world. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife and queen, Ann; sister, June Schaaf; 3 adoring sons, Daniel S. William and Darren Knierim; 2 stepdaughters, Ruth Remillard, Cheryl Remillard; 15 grandchildren, William Knierim, Brenna Knierim, Sara Embry, Bridgett Demick, Anthony Fields, Brittney Knierim, Ryan Knierim, Courtney Berry (Hodge), Tyler Escue, Cassidy Monzingo, Brian Hensley, Deanna Hensley, Tatum Remillard and Xavier Gonzalez; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Frederick, Robert, John, Jean Perry and grandson Justin Knierim. To honor Mr. Knierim's wishes there will no viewing or services. His lively spirit and over-sized heart will live on through the lives that he touched. He has placed a yearning in our hearts for more to be like him. The Ford Chapel-Allore Martenson Family of Funeral Homes Rockwood assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences at www.martenson.com
