Mr Charles H. Wood

Charles H. Wood, age 92, of Boone, N.C., formerly of Monroe, MI passed away Thursday September 5, 2013 at Cannon Memorial Hospital Newland, N.C. Charles was born November 18, 1920 in Monroe to Fred and Lois (Burchette) Wood. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from Nov 1942 to Jan 1946 serving in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe; he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon and Victory Medal. Charles married Fern Rush in July 2, 1949 sadly she preceded him in death on July 14, 2000. Charles is survived by his daughter Jessica (Ray Miller) Wood of North Carolina, granddaughter, Hali Wood-Miller; siblings, Philip (Sharon) Wood of Monroe, Kenneth (June) Wood of Monroe and Bobby Wood of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, infant granddaughter Dylan, sisters, Alberta and Elsie.
