Vella, Charles F. "Charles In Charge". Age 70. August 9, 2013 of Taylor. Beloved husband of 26 years to Sylvia. Loving dad of Kimberly (Scott) Beard, Brian, Lisa DuCharme and Robert. Loving step-dad of Michael, Gregory, Nicolas and William Saenz. Proud nunnu of Alexandra, Kenneth, Randee, James, Brian, Jessica, Gregory, Nico, Kyle, Casey, Bradley, Skylar, Amanda and Allison. Big nunnu of Brendan, Kaiden and Jace. Also survived by 2 brothers Jim and Dan (Connie), 4 sisters Vicky (Denis) McBride, Carmen Navarette, Doris Doute and Mary Ann (Sal) DiStefano and his sister-in-law Joan Vella as well as other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mary and 2 brothers Joseph and Vincent. Charles came to the United States from Malta with his family in 1950 and he immediately began working for his uncle. He was the owner of Modern Meat Center in Taylor for 30 years; he also was a real estate agent for 10 years. He was an active participant of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church where he served in many capacities including the usher club, being a Eucharistic Minister and as an active leader of the Our Lady of the Angels SVDP Food Pantry. Charles co-founded the Fish and Loaves Community Food Pantry. His chartable contributions where honored when he was awarded the Martin Luther King Keep the Dream Alive Award by the Archdiocese of Detroit for outstanding ministry. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial contributions be made to Fish and Loaves Community Food Pantry or to Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church Food Pantry.
