Mr. Bernard J. "Bernie" Bodner

Bernie went home to be with the Lord on July 24th, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born March 12th,1941 the son of John and Helen Bodner of Dearborn. He graduated from Fordson High School in 1959 and attended Eastern Michigan University where he obtained his Masters in Education. Bernie worked in the Monroe Public School system for 30+ years retiring in 1998 as the Vocational Education Director. He was an active member of the Father Saylor Council of the Knights of Columbus, as well as St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Allen Park. He enjoyed all sports, and coached football for several years. He also enjoyed watching his 3 children and his grandchildren excel in athletics. Bernie was also an avid golfer playing in several leagues. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years Margo, his children Deborah (Steven) McCoy, Shelly Bodner (Darrin Cook), and John (Kim) Bodner, and 6 grandchildren: Brendan, Ryan, and Ainsley McCoy, Peyton Battistelli, and Kolton and Jadie Bodner. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Dolores.
