Mr. Andrew Horvath

Andrew Horvath, age 88, of Alum Bank Pennsylvania, passed away on December 15, 2017 at home. Andrew was born on March 19, 1929, in Scalp Level, Pennsylvania; son of the late John and Anne (Martin) Horvath. He married Joan Wise of Windber in 1956 and moved to Michigan. Together they raised three children and spent holidays with the many brothers, sisters, in-laws and nieces and nephews. Andrew spent a year gently caring for his wife until Joan passed away in 2000. Andrew was lonely following his wife's death and remarried in 2005 and moved back to Pennsylvania. He survived colon cancer and went on dialysis when his kidneys failed. His heart began to fail in August of this year and he passed away at home with his daughter, two grandchildren and second wife by his side. Andrew attended the First Congregational Church of Rockwood and Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren. He served in the U.S. Army. Andrew enjoyed building and fixing things, playing pinochle, spending time with family and taking his boat out on Lake Erie to fish for walleye. Andrew is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joan Wise; brothers, Michael, Steve, John, Sam, Frank and Joseph (Yux); sisters, Mary and Irene. He is survived by daughter, Sandra and husband David Denno of Minnesota; sons, Philip and wife Vicky Horvath of Michigan; Paul and wife Lisa Horvath of Michigan; grandchildren, Andrew, Paula, Chelsea, Stephanie, Louisa, Felicia, Lindsey, Alan, Mackenzie, and Schaffer; great-grandchildren, Henry, Penny, Winston, Willa, Mahalia, Jude, Clancy, and Hazel; second wife Thelma Fleegle Webb of Pennsylvania; brother, Louie Horvath of Michigan; sisters, Betty McAndrews, Anna Mae Webb, Mary Jane Carson and Lilian Webb all of Pennsylvania. Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 22 from 2 until 8pm at the Ford Chapel of the Allore Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 23 at 10am at the Ford Chapel. Interment at the Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
