Morris John Van Houten

Van Houten, Morris John of Carleton died Friday in his home after a short illness. He was born July 24, 1919, the son of John and Verna (nee Heiss) Van Houten. Morris was a life long resident of Carleton. After graduating from Carleton High School, he served in the United States Army in Europe during WWII. Morris married Lois Robinson in 1949. Surviving are his wife Lois; his brothers Alvin (Janet) and James (Theresa) Van Houten; his four son's Alan (Janis), David (Rochelle), Gerald (Kathryn), Sidney (Cynthia) Van Houten; and his daughter Barbara (Greg) Johnson. Also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His brother and sister-in-law, Hilton (Marina) Van Houten preceded him in death. He was a life long farmer and a turbine operator for Detroit Edison until his retirement in 1983. He served on the Ash Township Planning Board, was a member of the Carleton VFW and the Inter City Baptist Church of Allen Park.
