MaryAnn Gulliver (Grandma Gulliver), a life-long resident of Allen Park and fixture in the community, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2021 surrounded by her family. MaryAnn, beloved wife of the late Jim Gulliver, is survived by her children Glenn (Natalie), Jerry (Debbie), and Judy (Dean); her grandchildren Kelly, Jimmy, Billy, Katie, Chelsea, and Johnny; and her great-grandchildren Max, Mia, Eastyn, Ella, Dash, and Jaxon. She was born in Detroit on November 29, 1931, to Kerker and Sharoug Derderian. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Gulliver, on April 23, 1952. Soon after welcomed their first son Glenn in 1954, followed by their second son Jerry 1957, and then their beautiful daughter Judy in 1962 who, along with their grandchildren - were the most important people in their life which she backed 100% no matter the situation. MaryAnn was adored by everybody helping them get their varsity letter jackets and restringing baseball and softball gloves during their 40+ years at Park Athletic Supply. She was a devoted mother to her children and many others in the community. Her husband Jim coached the Allen Park Varsity Baseball team for many years, following with Glenn and Jerry carrying on his legacy coaching the same team, along with their daughter Judy working with the softball team. All along, the proudest mom and grandma was in the background working the scoreboard, cheering for the team, and supporting the sports family win or lose. Family holidays were always a favorite with wiffleball on Easter, cornhole competitions and baseball tournaments during the summer, Pictionary on Thanksgiving, and the annual ping-pong tournament on Christmas were always a favorite of MaryAnn - the glue and center of the family. She always said and lived by, "the family that plays together, stays together."
