Mary Lou Liedel, age 94 of Newport, passed away peacefully January 15, 2023.
Born October 26, 1928 in Wyandotte, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Robinson. A 1946 graduate of Trenton High School, Mary Lou worked many years at Mercy Memorial Hospital- Monroe, Seaway Hospital- Trenton, and worked part time at Restaurant Italia in her later years.
Mary Lou loved to be outside enjoying nature, watching the birds visit her flower gardens, or feeding the fish in her pond. She also enjoyed knitting afghans. Which she gave to family and friends. Mary Lou was also an avid visitor and member of the YMCA, taking weekly aquatic classes into her 90’s.
Together with her late husband Melvin, they would raise 3 children; Mary Heft, Louanne (the late Angelo) Benvenuto, Lawrence (Terry Ann) Liedel. She was the proud grandmother of Lisa Heft, Nicholas (Christie) Benvenuto, Joseph Benvenuto, Nicole Liedel-Walters, Joshua Raymond (Katie) Liedel, and great grandmother of 11. Dear sister of Donald Robinson and the late Robert Robinson, Frank Robinson, John “Jack” Robinson, Esther Fisher, Dolores Laura-Olson, and Betty Jean Robinson.
Visitation will be held on Friday January 20, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of Service officiated by Deacon Mike Stewart at 1:00pm, at the Allore Chapel- Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 203 E. Elm, Monroe, MI 48162. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Newport.
