Mary Lou Bergmooser, age 84 of Oak Park, formerly of Rockwood, Michigan and Bangor, Maine; passed away peacefully May 31, 2015 at her home with her daughter under hospice care. Mary Lou was born November 4, 1930 in Strawberry, Arkansas to Gartrelle and Pearl (Horn) Penn. Throughout her life, Mary Lou worked at Wyandotte General Hospital, Downriver Casting, Gibraltar School District, Norton Surgical Supply and also as a School Board Member for Gibraltar Schools, retiring in 1992. Mary Lou was a member of Calvary Chapel Church in Troy, MI and in Bangor, ME, World Organization of China Painters (W.O.C.P.) and The Presbyterian Orthodox Tuesday afternoon Bible Study. She also enjoyed traveling, working out at the YMCA cardiac rehab in Bangor, ME and especially loved spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed and was loved by many. Surviving are her daughter Bobbi Bergmooser of Oak Park, MI; granddaughter Carie Jean (Randy) Lawyer of Whitehouse, TN; 4 great grandchildren Riley, Peyton, Jamee Joye and Zeke all of Whitehouse, TN; a sister Betty Sue DeLeon of Rockwood, MI and a brother Douglas Penn of Atlanta, MI. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents Gartrelle and Pearl Penn, her former spouse Robert J. Bergmooser, a son Daniel Wayne Bergmooser and a daughter Jamee Marie Henson. Memorial gathering Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 3-8pm and Sunday 2-4pm at The Ford Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 23620 N. Huron River, Rockwood. Memorial service Sunday, June 7, 2015 4pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John DeLeon Scholarship or the Mark Helton Memorial Scholarship Memorial Fund.
