Mary "Kay" Donia

Mary Kathryn "Kay" Donia Age 84 Born December 6, 1934 Somerset, PA Passed June 30, 2019 Loving mother of Brian Donia, Timothy Donia (Barb) and Anthony Donia (Debbie). Adored grandmother of Samantha Sawnick and Jacob Donia. Cherished great-grandmother of Summer Sawnick. Kay is survived in death by her brother Budd Bruening (Pam), Lois Spaulding (Jerry), sister-in-laws Dorothy Donia (Bud), Beverly Bruening and Linda Donia(John), and numerous adoring nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Samuel Donia, her brother Daniel Bruening, sister Connie Bruening and her parents, Oscar and Naomi Bruening. Kay was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. She was also an active member of the River Raisin Sweet Adeline Chorus, sang bass in two quartets and loved singing with this organization for more than 30 years. She retired from Trenton Pubic Schools and continued to work for several years with the Target Corporation. She was many things to many people. Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, neighbor, friend and "Miss Kay" to hundreds of "Rosebuds" and "Georges" in her years at Owen Elementary School. Kay had an endless sparkle and shine and was always silly and wonderful. She loved everyone so very much and every one who loves her was grateful for every moment they had with her. We know she is in Heaven, holding Sam and keeping the bass section of angels on pitch. She was loved by many here and will be very missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a fund to create a birdhouse installation at MacArthur Park in Trenton, MI.
