Altomare, Mary Irene. Our mother Irene passed away on April 9, 2007. She waited six years to see our dad Larry in Heaven, but God loved her so very much that it took Him and the angels a little extra time to prepare a very special greeting for her at the heaven's gate. We describe our mother Irene in one word, flower, as her skin was soft as a rose petal and her demeanor always full of complete love for us. Our dear mother, Mary Irene Zoba Altomare, was born in Daisyville, PA on September 22, 1923. She married our father, Lawrence Altomare, in 1944 and he was her true love and world. Together, through love and hardships, they built a home and raised a family of five daughters. Our mother Irene taught us what people today call, good old-fashioned family values and often made us laugh by proclaiming that with Dad she was truly a one-man woman. From her, we learned how to love and laugh, be honest and sincere, to play and use our imagination, even plant a garden and can fruits and vegetables. Mom is lovingly survived by three daughters and their families, Michelle (Jon) Ertel, Annette Altomare, Bridget (Nick) Giannotti, and grandsons Jeffrey Gawlinski, Nicholas and Michael Giannotti. She is also survived by daughters Laura Briguglio, Theresa Bishop and their families.
