Marvel Boyd

Marvel Boyd, age 89,passed away May 20th, 2023.

Beloved mother of William (Peggy), Mark (Lori), Paul (Gwen), Michele (the late Jack) and the late John Strachan. Loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren,1 great-great grandchild and one on the way. Dear sister to Karen Saffle and the late Alex Harris. She is preceded in death by her two husbands William Strachan, and L.C. Boyd.

Marvel Boyd committed 16 years to Our Lady of the Angel’s food pantry, and served as a director. Her dedication involved planning the menu, training volunteers, and soliciting donations from parishioners. Marvel would meet with each neighbor, and always treated everyone with respect and friendliness. When the pantry was open, Marvel was always present, sometimes 3 times a week for 2 hours a day. She earned a top hat for her dedication and commitment. When she wasn’t serving the food pantry, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Marvel often frequented her favorite restaurant, Flamingo’s, where she is well known among the staff. Above all, she was a kind hearted woman who will be deeply missed and loved by her family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. Allen Park, MI 48101 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Rosary time is at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Our Lady of the Angels at 10:00 am with an in state at 9:00 am.
