She was born on July 8, 1936 to Joseph S. and Mary C. (Drobina) Pitock in Monroe, MI. She married Robert D. Laginess on June 20, 1959. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2004. They made their home on a family farm in South Rockwood and raised six children: Mark (Joani) Laginess of Belleville, MI, Marianne (Bill) Brittain of Monroe,MI with whom she made her home with for the last 3 ½ years, Julie (Michael) Adler of Milford, MI, Robert C. (Nina) Laginess of Maryville, TN, Laurie (John) Durbin of Carleton, MI, and Thomas (Delinda) Laginess of Temperance, MI. She enjoyed spending time with her 17 grandchildren: Jacob (Holly) Laginess, Andrew Laginess, Joelle Laginess, Greg (Casey) Brittain, Michelle (Ty) Keating, Allison Brittain, Leanne Brittain, Katie (Michael) Cook, Laura Adler, Michael (Emily) Adler, Jr., Lucas Laginess, Kayla Durbin, Rachel Durbin, Brittany Brittain, Alexis Laginess, Joseph Laginess, and Delanie Laginess. She has four great-grandchildren: Samuel, Lucille, and Eloise Laginess, and Annalee Coleman. She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Donna Pitock and Nancy Pitock, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Emerson and Donna Laginess and Daniel and Lorraine Mercure. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers: Joseph F. and Peter M. Pitock. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School in Monroe, MI and was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She received her degree in teaching from Marygrove College, Detroit, MI in 1958. She taught in Monroe Public Schools, Airport School District, Gibraltar School District, St. Mary's School in Rockwood and for 18 years at St. Charles School in Newport, MI until she retired in 1999. She continued to substitute at schools in the area. She was a former Jefferson School Board Member. She was a member of St. Mary Parish, Rockwood, MI, where was involved in RCIA and taught catechism for over 20 years. She was also a member of Berlin Township Senior Citizens where she enjoyed playing cards every Tuesday. She enjoyed making rosaries, knitting, calligraphy, puzzles, playing on her iPad, watching the Tigers, and creating a family genealogy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Laginess Family Scholarship Fund at St. Mary Catholic Central, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockwood or Companions of Christ the Lamb.
