Barrett, Margery S (Mott); Peacefully passed into Eternal Life on March 29, 2022, aged 84, following a long illness. She was born in Highland Park to Charles Avery (emigrant from Cornwall) & Esther Kauppila Avery Mott (2nd. generation Finlander) and was adopted by her step-father, Charles Mott (emigrant from England) at the age of 10. She was very proud of her immigrant forebears. She was a graduate of Royal Oak High School class of January 1955 and proud graduate of Harper Hospital School of Nursing in December 1960. She was married in 1957 to CPO Clyde S Barrett USNR, who preceded her in death in 1983. She was employed as the office nurse for Dr. Donald Bower MD and later for Dr. Jesus Ortega MD both in Lincoln Park. She was a 63 year resident of Trenton Michigan, moving there as her husband was stationed at the former Grosse Ile Navy base. She was the last living adult charter member of St. Philip Lutheran Church of Trenton and was very active there until illness prevented her from attending services. She was a strong believer in social justice issues through the Social Ministry team at St. Philip as she was active with their many food insecurity programs and Adopt A Family at Christmas. She believed in equality for ALL regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation. She was an active volunteer at the Downriver Food Pantry, She also was a life member of the Finnish Center Association of Farmington Hills. She was active with the Downriver ARC, having been a fierce advocate for services for children with developmental disabilities since 1963 when those services were not available. She took great joy in attending her grandchildren’s & great-grandchildren’s sporting events in her later life. She was the loving mother of Richard (Cindy), Patricia, Michael and Timothy (Andrea); proud grandmother of Brandon (Kelly) Barrett, Morgan (Garrett) Dominguez and Shelby Barrett; Timothy "JT" (Michelle) Barrett, Christina (Justin) Kramer and Owen McAlister, adoring great-grandmother of Maddox Barrett, Connor and Ella Dominguez, Chris Harnum and Philip Lowry, Blake and Riley Kramer. loving sister of Charles (Patti) Mott and Richard Mott. Also survived by 4 nieces, a nephew, and several cousins. Services are pending. Memorial contributions in honor of Margery may be made to St. Philip Lutheran Church, 1790 Fort Street, Trenton MI 48183.
