Margaret Amey Kanowski, age 92 of Riverview, MI. Loving wife of Ernest J. Kanowski Jr. Beloved Mother of Kathleen (Mark) Boettcher, Diane (Jim) Hanley, Jerry (Peggy) Kanowski, Maureen (Terry) Benedict, Laura (John) DeMarco, and John (Candy) Kanowski.
Dearest Grandmother of Ashley, Nicole, Matt, Michelle, Sarah, Sean, Kyle, Jake, Kiley, Kennedy, and Jack. Great Grandmother to Kaelyn, Logan, and Thomas.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest J. Kanowski Jr., her brothers James and Walter Harvey, her sister Mary Waypa, her Mother Sarah Dixon Menzies Harvey, and her Father, Harold Everett Harvey.
Margaret didn’t know a stranger! If you were standing anywhere near her, like in a grocery line, she would start up a conversation and by the time she cashed out, she knew your history… because she cared to know!
Margaret had a love of reading, collecting beautiful items, listening to music, dancing, and sitting on the porch watching the birds, bunnies, and butterflies play in the yard. She was a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and was especially fond of Miquel Cabrera. She enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren’s events. She worked puzzles with her husband, but the puzzle was never complete until Mom put in the last piece. She had fun playing catch, painting her nails with her granddaughters, going to lunch, and shopping on QVC for her loved ones. She was an ace at any and all games, be it board games, 31, pick six, bocce ball, or croquet. And at age 90, she could still play ping pong and serve a tennis ball over the net. But most of all, she loved raising her six children and talking with each one of them on the phone.
Mom, especially just loved being with Dad!
Margaret was not just a loving wife and mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, but she was “our person” to whom we always went to in our times of joy and sorrow. She chose to listen and be there for each one of us.
Our Mom and Dad showed us compassion and love, while teaching us the values of kindness and doing right by others. Now, we will take all of this and live our lives as well as they lived theirs.
We love you, Mom! We miss you terribly!
Bye Bye Butterfly
Please tell Dad we miss him!
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Margaret.
