Marcus Ian Major, age 19 years old, passed away on Monday June 11, 2018. It was all about love on November 30, 1998 when Michelle Valerie Gillum and Samuel Strauder Major III welcomed their son Marcus Ian Major into the world. He was the love of their lives and brought so much love, joy and happiness to a day that was already about love. He was the oldest of three siblings and he loved his "ya-ya" and "bubba". Marcus graduated from Southgate Anderson High School on June 8, 2016. Marcus was introduced to acting at Southgate Anderson and he was a member of their drama club and performed in many plays and musicals. After graduation, he attended Eastern Michigan University where he studied Political Science and Theater. He joined the traveling theater troupe of Closeup and continued performing. In 2017, Marcus also joined the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He was excited to belong to a fraternity that gave back to the community. Marcus loved music, he loved to dance, and he loved to act. Marcus was always laughing, joking and smiling. He would walk into a room and have a room of friends when he left. Marcus was the most caring person and he loved to help people. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He always had a smile, a great laugh and a big heart. Marcus was preceded in death by his Nana, Maria Olga Trevino, his uncle Derrick Thornton and his first cousin. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother and father, Michelle Valerie Gillum and Samuel Strauder Major III, his sister Nalayla "ya-ya" Boyles and his brother Eric "bubba" Boyles, two grandmothers, Alamar Lopez and Alessia Major, his grandpa, Raymond Dziedziak, his aunts Renea Gillum, Meghan Dziedziak, Daniella Inboden, Makayla Gillum, his uncles Joseph Dziedziak and Sean Gillum, his great-grandfathers Hector D. Trevino and Oscar Lopez, Sr., his great-grandmother, Doris Allen, his neices and nephew, his many cousins, other extended family and friends. Marcus you are loved, missed and will always be remembered. Be at peace. From the family of Marcus Ian Major.
