Guadalupe “Lupina” Yanez, born July 23, 1940 in Galeana, Nuevo Leon Mexico, to Florentino Luna and Marta Alejandro, died peacefully on December 22, 2021 from lung cancer complications, with family by her side. Loving wife of the late Carlos A. Yanez, who were wed on April 26, 1969, and who proceeded her in death on April 6, 1998. Beloved mother of Sandra Osorio (Atanacio), Miroslava de Wit (Carlo) and Carlos A. Yanez, Jr. (Lucky). Cherished grandmother of Andres Osorio, Carlos Osorio, Nikolas de Wit, Felix Yanez, Emiliano Osorio, Stefan de Wit and Sebastian Osorio. Lupina was the youngest of twelve siblings; dear sister to six brothers and two sisters. Caring grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and dear friend to a wonderful, extended family throughout US and Mexico. Lupina was a parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Church in Detroit where she was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Choir Participant, Member of the Guadalupana Society and recipient of the Juan Diego Pioneer Award. She enjoyed contributing to the church by actively participating and supporting fundraisers, special services of worship and community functions. Lupina proudly expressed her Mexican heritage, and cherished every opportunity to visit Mexico; especially her hometown of Galeana, where her humble beginnings in life started. Lupina worked for the City of Detroit’s recreation department, where she mostly served the larger community in Southwest Detroit, retiring in 2006. Family will receive family and friends Wednesday, December 29, 1-7 PM at Martenson Family of Funeral Homes - Allen Park Chapel, 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. Rosary at 5:30 PM. Funeral Mass Thursday December 30, 2021 at Most Holy Trinity located at 1050 Porter St, Detroit, MI 48226. Visitation at church will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by holy mass at 11:00 AM. Burial following mass at Woodmere Cemetery. Family suggests memorial tributes to Most Holy Trinity Church and American Cancer Association. The family requests guests wear masks for everyone's safety.
