Lula M. Harrell

Lula Mae Harrell entered into the presence of her Savior at age 90 on February 18, 2013. Born to William & Lula Timberlake on May 9, 1922, she lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with her 4 brothers and 3 sisters, until she married Allen Harrell in 1940. Together they made their home in Michigan, where they raised their 3 children. She spent many years being known as "mom" to 300+ young adults in the Young People II Sunday School class at Gilead Baptist Church in Detroit. However, everyone knew her biggest pride and joy was her family and everything she did for them she affectionately called a "labor of love." Her husband of 72 years, Allen Harrell, and children: Al (Mary Ann) Harrell, Betty Tessmer and Ken (Debbie) Harrell; as well as 9 grandchildren and soon to be 17 great grandchildren will greatly miss her. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 24, 3:00-8:00 PM at Martenson Family Funeral Homes, the Allen Park Chapel - 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park, MI 48180. The funeral service will be on Monday, February 25 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
