Leontine W. Rice

Rice, Leontine W. 98, died in the Lord September 16, 2017 at Mountain View Nursing Home, Aroda, Virginia. She was born March 5, 1919 in Whitburn, Scotland, to William and Leontine (Viette) Williamson, and immigrated to the United States in 1925. She was a graduate of Grove City High School and Grove City College, Grove City, Pennsylvania, and received a masters degree from Eastern Michigan University. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Dr. William R. Rice, pastor of Inter-City Baptist Church from 1949 to 1989. She taught in public schools for thirteen years before becoming a teacher and principal at Inter-City Baptist School when it was founded in 1966. Leontine Rice is survived by her son William Frederick Rice and wife Nancy; two grandchildren and their spouses, William Jarvis and Anna Chambers Rice, and Jason Christian and Elizabeth Rice DeMarco; and her great grandchildren Eli, Gideon, Susannah, and Emily DeMarco; and Noemie, Cordelia, and Jonas Rice. Visitation is Thursday from 3 – 8 pm at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. (Corner of Goddard). Leontine will lie in state on Friday from 10 am at Inter-City Baptist Church, Allen Park until time of service at 11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Inter-City Baptist Church.
