Leona Foster

Leona Foster, 87, of Monroe, passed away at 11:35pm Thursday at Fountainview of Monroe. Leona was born May 15, 1929 in Monroe, MI, the daughter of Clifford and Pearl (Nadeau) Frey. She married James Foster on November 3, 1951 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Newport. Together they had two children; Garry and Stella. Leona was a homemaker. A lifelong member of St. Charles Catholic Church, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, was an avid bowler, and also traveled around the world. Sadly her husband James preceded her in death in 1994 and her daughter Stella Farner in 2013. Surviving is her son Garry Foster of Rockwood; son-in-law John Farner of Newport; brother Donald (Bev) Frey of Coal City, IL; sister Bernice (Frank) Wilhelm of Toledo, OH; grandchildren Mary (John) Kinsey of Woodhaven, Matthew Foster of Rockwood, Shawn (Jessica) Farner of Newport, and Sarah (Adrian) Blicharski of Newport; and great grandchildren Jillian Kinsey, Brody Blicharski, Charlotte Blicharski, Austin Kind and Abbey Farner. Leona was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Pearl Frey, husband James, daughter Stella and three siblings Raymond Frey, Marie Frey and Marian Fountain.
