Click on tribute wall above to view Leo's service video. Leo J. Diakow was born on September 30, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan and died on June 27, 2021 at the age of 96. Beloved Husband of the late Joyce. Loving Dad of Gerald “Butch” (Pat) Diakow, Linda (Mike) Fenech and Jill (Charlie) McCalister. Cherished Grandpa and Pops of Sally (Don), Michele (the late Mark), Cathy (Bill), Brian, Michael (Fran), Brad (Julie), Amy and Joyce (David) Great Grandpa of DJ (Sarah), Jerry (Emily), Justin, Billy, Cooper, Elizabeth, Brooke, Paige, Kaleah, Caiden, Brenna, Braelyn, Emma, Carter, Bailey and Mason. Great Great Grandpa of Little Leo and Jack. Dearest Brother of Nicky and dearest Brother-In-Law of Gerri. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. Leo proudly served our Country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. Visitation is on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 3pm to 8 pm at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. (Corner of Goddard). The funeral service is on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 12 pm at the funeral home; Chaplain Frederick R. Cislo, Jr. will officiate. Interment with Military Honors being performed by The Downriver Veterans Honor Guard will be at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Service Organization of the donor’s choice.
