Lawrence Crabtree

Lawrence Charles Crabtree (Larry) 4/19/1930 - 1/16/2022 Grosse Ile, MI Lawrence Charles Crabtree, age 91, went to his heavenly home peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Larry was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada April 19, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents Hilda and Arthur Crabtree and sister, Joan Spanswick. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna Crabtree, and her children Wayne Moshauer and Lisa Montgomery. He is survived by his daughters Tina Bogg (Marty) and Patty Stanfield from his former spouse, Pat Crabtree. He was preceded in death by Gracia Darbison and their surviving children Brenda Gadreau (Larry), Sheila Benson (Greg), Daryl Crabtree (Judy), and Hilary DuQuesnay (Dave). He also had many loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Larry had many accomplishments in his lifetime. He fulfilled his passion in music by becoming an organ choir director at churches and participating in the Windsor Light Opera in Windsor, Ontario. He also sang in the Fort Street Chorale and continued his love of music by playing his organ that he had in his home. Larry continued working at his own company until his passing and worked on some well-known projects such as the Uniroyal Tire off I-94, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Greektown in Detroit and was an active member in a forum for detailers. Larry received his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying solo in his younger days as well as boating and scuba diving. He was fond of traveling, talking about history, music and his work and having spirited discussions about the world in general. Larry was most passionate about spending time with family and, no matter the circumstances, family always came first. He was a truly inspirational person to many with his generosity and impeccable work ethic and will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of his life will begin Saturday, January 29, 2022 in the chapel at St. James Episcopal Church, 25150 E. River Rd., Grosse Ile, MI. 48138 from 1 PM - 4 PM followed by the Memorial service at 4 PM. Friends and family may continue to gather and celebrate Larry after the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church and/or St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Wyandotte.
