Larry Kempher

Kempher, Larry, age 75 of Brownstown, passed away August 23, 2015. Larry was born on July 12, 1940 in Ypsilanti to his parents Lewis and Carroll Kempher (Young). When he was just 16 years old, Larry proudly entered the U.S. Navy and was a midshipman at sea. He was later married in the same city where he was born, on October 4, 1969 to the love of his life, Loretta. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Brenda, Karl, Linda, Lonnie, and Kimberly. Larry worked to support his family at General Motors for over 30 years on the assembly line. He retired in 1992. He loved to golf, fish, and hunt and was a skilled wood-worker. He was also a member of the Brownstown Historical Society. Larry is the loving husband of Loretta for 46 years. Dear father of Brenda (Roy) Mitchell, Karl Kempher, Linda (Martin) VanDer Oord, Lonnie (Karin) Kempher, Kimberly (Todd) Gambino. Proud grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 13. Brother of Lewis (Dorothy) Kempher, Walter (Sharon) Kempher, Arnold (Rosemary) Kempher, Terry Kempher, and Kaye Howling. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his step-mother Viola Sayler, grandson Anthony, granddaughter Megan, and sister Joyce Smith. Visitation will be held at Ford Chapel, 23620 N. Huron River Dr. on Tuesday from 4 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at the funeral home at 10 am. Interment at Michigan Memorial Park.
